Leonardo Di Caprio - A Great Actor?
IMHO a very limited actor with just 2 emotions on screen, smouldering hammy menace or hysterical laughter.

Others say he is fantastic with a marvellous range of emotions and screen presence.

What do the WHOers think?

Donald Crisp from Bow won the best supporting actor for How Green was my Valley, a film which won best picture and director beating off Citizen Kane, FMOB Citizen Kane has been regularly voted as the best film of all time by critics.

PS Sam Rockwell is the best of the current crop for me

Great actor, struggle to think of a bad film he's done. Obviously very picky about what he does, unlike sellouts Pachino and Deniro for example.

No, I've checked. Nobody in the cast or crew had the names Spandex or Sydney.

The Revenant was one of the best films I've seen over the last couple of years.

To each their own and you probably have a bigger range than I do these days but Nolan and Fincher I can't put there and some of those others, it has been while.

(There was a hyphen in there for reason)

And even if I agreed with all them, they are very few in terms of the number of people that put out "entertainment" these days. Would you not agree?

Good list there especially Villeneuve. Prisoners, Sicario and Incendies are great films. However I was pretty disappointed in Blade Runner.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape.Nah he went full retard. Never go full retard.

Johnny Depp was good in that. Now he' s a great and versatile actor. But done some stinkers like the Tourist.

Like him or hate, he sticks to his principles and is one of the few real film-makers left.

Lazy argument, there's still loads of proper filmmakers left:

Martin Scorsese
Paul Thomas Anderson
Coen Brothers
Wes Anderson
Lynne Ramsay
Denis Villenauve
Christopher Nolan
David Fincher
Richard Linklater
Alfonso Cuaron
Guillermo del Toro
Darren Aronofsky

and could go on.

Really looking forward to that, I hear it’s loosely based around the Manson Family, with a few extra movie stars - Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen...etc.

Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve enjoyed every Tarantino film, they seem to get better!

Speaking of which.

Select critics I respect are liking Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Anyone who thinks he's no good must see What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

That'll change your mind. Or The Aviator, or Catch Me If You Can.

Road To Perdition. Tom Hanks an excellent performance as a hit man and Paul Newman (a real great) also not type cast, as a gangster. Even Daniel Craig does his cruel evil bit. But mended is a genius.

My great uncle was an actor, won an oscar in 1942. He was from Bow.

And no, he left us no money when he died.

Sorry for my rudeness. It just pisses me off when people underestimate the art of acting. It's something I have a lot of experience in.

Check out Michael Cain's Masterclass and you'll see what I mean.
